Exterior Painting

If you have Spicer Painting paint the outside of your home, here is what you can expect . . .

  • Power washing prior to painting (see this page for details).
  • Treatment of areas affected by mildew.
  • Scraping with carbide scrapers followed by sanding of all peeling areas.  In most instances, power sanding equipment is used  (e.g. disc sanders, finish sanders).
  • Priming of bare wood to seal the surface and insure proper finish coat adhesion.
  • Caulking as required.  A silicone-fortified acrylic latex caulk is used.  Priming is done prior to caulking.  Should excess structural movement break the caulk bond, the primer will provide backup protection for the wood.
  • Reglazing of windows where old putty has failed.
  • Removal or taping of hardware fixtures (e.g. door knobs, light fixtures etc.).
  • Protection of areas not to be painted (e.g., plants, walkways, brickwork, shingles).
  • Careful application of Sherwin-Williams’ best paint, “Duration,” or your preferred paint.
  • Over 37 years of professional painting experience.
  • A conscientious contractor fully licensed and insured for your protection.
