“Our reputation is based on surface preparation.”
Serving Northern Virginia since 1975
Thank you for visiting our Web site. I’m John Spicer and I’ve had my painting business in Northern Virginia for 41 years. What began as a way to pay for college blossomed into Spicer Contracting, Inc., our official name.
My company consists of 3 people: John Spicer (Me!); Gene Thompson, who has been with me for 35 years; and, Oscar Perales, who has been with us for over 15 years. This is important because when you contract with us, we will be the guys doing the work. There will not be a disconnect between the guy who does the estimate and the folks doing the work. We don’t employ day labor and, unless you have a special requirement that we can’t handle ourselves, we don’t use subcontractors.
Just about all painters say they do quality work but what determines quality in the painting trade? I’d say experience and integrity. Experience to know how to properly prepare and paint the surface. Integrity to actually do it.
This site details the steps we take to do the job right the first time. With the 3 of us doing all the labor, we can assure you a consistent and superior painting experience. If you are looking for the lowest price, we are not your guys. If you are looking for the best value for your painting dollar, please call or e-mail us to discuss your project.
Interior Residential Painting – Spicer Painting does all kinds of interior painting. Our goal is to provide a high quality result with a minimum of disruption to you and your family. Here’s a description of what you can expect when we do interior painting for you.
Exterior Residential Painting – We perform a wide range of exterior painting services – wood, masonry, siding, and trim. We will spend nearly as much time and effort preparing your house for painting as we will spend applying paint. This way, we can ensure you that your paint job will last for years. Read about what you can expect when Spicer Painting paints the exterior of your home.
Deck Staining/Sealing – Spicer Painting can clean your deck, make minor repairs, and then stain and seal your deck to improve its appearance and protect it from the elements. The difference can be amazing!
Power Washing – Power washing is an integral part of preparing your home or deck for painting. However, periodic power washing can help retain your home’s “just painted” look and prolong the life of the paint job.
Other Services – Spicer Painting also does wallpaper removal, drywall repair, minor carpentry work, and trim repair.
The crew that will work on your house will consist of myself and two long-term employees. We’ve been in the painting business a long time and have earned a reputation for doing the job properly – every time.
John Spicer – John began painting in 1976 as a way to pay for college. Having an entrepreneurial spirit and enjoying the satisfaction of a profession where one sees the fruit of one’s labor, John incorporated his business after receiving his finance degree from George Mason University. A native of Northern Virginia, John and his wife Patty have four grown sons.
Gene Thompson – Gene also began painting as a way to pay for college back in 1981. Not the kind of guy who could sit behind a desk, Gene continued painting after receiving his degree from Radford University. Gene and his wife Maureen have one son Jack who Gene coaches in both baseball and basketball.
Oscar Perales – Oscar grew up in a painting family with his Dad teaching him the ropes at an early age. After graduating from Falls Church High School, Oscar worked in several different fields of construction before coming back to his family roots. Oscar has two daughters and resides in Falls Church.
